New OBL Tape

 Posted by Picasa

FOX News, Drudge, and others are reporting that an new audio tape, reportedly by Osama Bin Laden, has been released by Al-Jazeera.

It is reported that the tape offers a truce in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, but after claiming that they are winning on those two fronts.

"In response to the substance of the polls in the US, which indicate that Americans do not want to fight Muslims on Muslim land, nor do they want Muslims to fight them on their land, we do not mind offering a long-term truce based on just conditions that we will stick to.

"We are a nation that Allah banned from lying and stabbing others in the back, hence both parties of the truce will enjoy stability and security to rebuild Iraq and Afghanistan, which were destroyed by war.

"There is no problem in this solution, but it will prevent hundreds of billions from going to influential people and war lords in America - those who supported Bush's electoral campaign - and from this, we can understand Bush and his gang's insistence on continuing the war."

To me, it sounds like they know they are losing in Iraq, and have completely lost in Afghanistan, and they are trying to cover the fact that they are really getting their butts whipped. They aren't just getting their butts whipped, but they are getting their pants pulled to their ankles, hung upside down on the swingset, and we are buying candybars, pop and comic books with their lunch money.

The tape also claims that the measure we have undertaken to safeguard our shores have not inhibited their efforts to bring more terror to the US. OBL claims that they are just involved in preparatory stages. Bring it on, sucker, like we need another reason to turn you into worm food.

It is a longstanding US policy to not negotiate with terrorists. Simple as that.

Now my question to the anti-war folks. The CIA has authenticated his voice on this tape. My question is this (or maybe it's more of a statement, I'll let ya'll decide):

Bin Laden claims to have influence on the terrorist we are fighting in Iraq. It seems as if he controls them, and is the one responsible for the insurgency in Iraq. Who claimed responsibility for 9/11??? Oh, yeah, Bin Laden did. So, Iraq has nothing to do with 9/11??? Riiight...any other theories that need de-bunking??

One thing OBL has right is his strategy in this tape. He strokes the anti-war protesters, using almost identical rhetoric when attacking President Bush. Makes you wonder, who is reading who, and what kind of un-holy alliances run much deeper than we may like to think.

More as the situation develops.

SCOUTS OUT!!!!!

MDG....OUT.

MDG,

Isn't it funny how the left in this country and our enemies want the exact same things?

Good points as usual. Having just viewed Helen Thomas make an a$$ of herself at the press briefing yesterday when the tape was announced, though, made me realize that she and the rest of her ilk maintain that there was no connection between Iraq and OBL before we liberated Iraq. The connection, they maintain, was made after we liberated Iraq and, as a result, all the foreign fighters flooded into Iraq. You've probably already thought of this though.

Personally I've always believed there was a connection between them even though Saddam was more secular than Islamic.

Keep up the good work.

You hit the nail on the head. In the tape, he was spouting the same crap the liberals/dummocrats have been calling for. Seems awfully suspicious. Maybe the DNC can replace howling howie dean with bincrying. They are both insane cowards.

You are so right...OBL sounds like he's rearranging chairs on the Titanic. Scarry that his rhetoric is the same as some here, but hey, can lead a mule to water, but you can't make 'um drink. (Meaning no disrespect to mules). They want to stay on the side of OBL, Saddam, Castro and other lovely mass murderers.. I choose the company on our side of the line better..And I'm NOT talking Dem/Rep...

Thank you for all you do. You guys are wonderful! We appreciate all you are doing, and we are winning thanks to you all. God bless you.

Saying "Saddam didn't do 9/11" is a little like saying "I refuse to go ashore on Guadalcanal because Admiral Yamamoto is not in personal command of the garrison."

Islam is the enemy, and we are carrying the fight to them, attacking them where they are weak, and thrashing them while the world watches.

Perhaps it would have been better to start turning cities into puddles of radioactive glass on the afternoon of September 11th, 2001. History may one day judge that we were not ruthless enough, quickly enough, and because of this our victory will be more costly than it had to be.

But that is not my decision to make, and even f**king hillbillies like me understand that much.

War is not about numbers killed. If it were, then we won Vietnam hands down. As it happens, we lost our strategic objectives there, despite losing *only* 58,000 troops versus 1-2 million NVC dead.

We WILL lose Iraq, not because of lack of support, but because the invasion was based on a lie in the first place. Prior to 9/11, the only terrorists in Iraq were the Baath Party. The CIA confirmed this before the invasion, and Valerie Plame's identity was leaked because her husband raised the bullsh*t flag on the administration.

Was Saddam a piece of sh*t? Absolutely. His whole family was. But that does not justify the war, and if we want to claim moral high ground, why did we let North Korea develop nukes? Why are we letting Iran do the same? Why are we ignoring the blatant genocide in Darfur?

In Afghanistan, Bush appealed that "We are supported by the collective will of the world." We WERE, back when we were fighting the good fight. As soon as Bush diverted attention from the real fight against terrorism and terrorists (and thereby shocking the world), we lost our support and our righteousness. The world would LOVE to forgive us and put it in the past, but that will not happen until we leave Iraq. Let them fight a civil war that we helped create. If it needs fixing later, we can always come back.

Iraq had fuckall to do with 9/11, and the intelligence community overwhelmingly has stated this clearly. Even Bin Laden knows this. Saying that Al-Qaida is now in Iraq does nothing to mitigate the fact that they were not there before. The line has since been blurred, and Americans are happily confused about Iraq's links to terrorist groups, which has grown with our occupation. Just ask Bush senior why he didn't invade. He knew even back in the early 90s that knocking out Iraq as a power in the area would leave Iran to fill in the gap, and we are now contending with their meddling in the region. They will continue to pose an increasing threat to Israel and Iraq.

Claims that we have not seen terrorist acts on US soil since 9/11 are missing the big picture. Terrorists are still accomplishing their objectives, by carrying on a proxy war in Iraq, and killing our fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters, all while making us believe their sacrifice was not in vain. So we continue to pour troops and money into the vacuum of Iraq while mostly ignoring Afghanistan, Pakistan, and our "strategic ally," the terrorist regime of Saudi Arabia. Terrorist attacks will happen again. Perhaps bigger in scale than 9/11. Perhaps not.

As for Islam being the enemy, Islamist fighters in Iraq are fighting each other as much as they are fighting us. And there are plenty in the Islamic world who decry modern calls for jihad and support for terrorists. They are just as eager to distinguish themselves from terrorists as Democrats and Republicans are from each other.

Sadly, we are not likely to "win" the war on terrorism. As stated, winning has nothing to do with numbers killed. We are not achieving our strategic objectives, plain and simple. We are creating diplomatic nightmares, dangerous precedents, and justifying terrorist acts against us by our insipid bumbling in foreign affairs. We absolutely have the right to defend ourselves. So do Iraqis.

Most Americans have no clue why Bin Laden attacked us in the first place. It seems to me that if anyone was really interested in solving the issue of terrorism, they'll try and understand the root causes. The world is not a black and white place. Only by directing efforts at the roots of terrorism can we hope to make progress and win back global support and sympathy for our mission.

Sorry for the long post. Thank you to all the troops working their asses off in the heat. I know what that's like. Hope you come home safe and soon.

It's sad when people truly believe this. Just underscores how much this whole issue has divided us, rather than united us. We should be fighting the enemy, not ourselves. There IS such a thing as "loyal opposition," and I suggest you read about it. You may be amazed to find that the left, whom you accuse of treason, want to make America secure no less than anyone from the right.
